Description:
This is a small sized scale model with “big” performance. The Safir is not equipped with landing gear and it is easily hand thrown.

The kit is designed using CAD-technology and most parts are CNC-milled for a perfect fit. It is a traditional design using balsa and plywood which makes it both easy to build and easy to repair if an accident should occur.

This model is recommended to the average builder/pilot with experience from a couple of models before. The kit takes 30 – 40 hours to complete.

The Safir has a scale contour and if you add some extra details it can be built to a very accurate model of the full size.

The Saab Safir is a Swedish designed trainer that first flew in 1945. There were 323 aircraft’s built. The manufacturer was the well-known Swedish Company Saab – later famous for legendary aircraft like the “Draken”, the “Viggen” and today the “Gripen”.  The designer AJ Andersson was earlier responsible for the classic Bücker´s, the Bestmann, the Jungmann etc. The Saab Safir has been used by the Swedish Air Force with the designation Sk 50. Other countries military pilot training programs also flew the Safir, e.g. Norway, Finland, Ethiopia. Today most Saab Safirs are privately owned and can be found at local flying clubs.
